A Marine Medical Examination (MME) must be completed by a designated Marine Medical Examiner authorized by Transport Canada. Following your assessment, if you are deemed medically fit, you will be issued a Provisional Marine Medical Certificate on site. This provisional certificate is valid for six months. Your permanent Marine Medical Certificate will be mailed directly to you by Transport Canada in Ottawa and will carry a two-year validity period, beginning on the date of your initial examination.
For every appointment, a new Marine Medical Examination Report must be completed. You will be required to fill out a personal health questionnaire and provide your demographic information. The form includes questions on family and personal medical history, prescribed and over-the-counter medications, substance use, and alcohol consumption. As part of the assessment, our clinical staff will record your height, weight, and blood pressure, and will conduct distance and colour-vision testing, hearing evaluation, and a urine dip analysis.
To support a smooth and successful visit, we encourage all clients to bring two pieces of government-issued identification, a current medication list or pharmacy printout, and any relevant medical documentation that may assist in the assessment process.
